As part of the Menstrual Hygiene Week celebration, The Young and Woman Initiative (YAWI) partnered with the Girls’ Brigade Nigeria, Oyo State, to organize a sensitization and orientation programme for students at the Senior Girls’ Workshop.
The programme aimed to promote menstrual health awareness and equip participants with accurate information about menstrual hygiene management, helping to break the stigma and misconceptions surrounding menstruation.
During the interactive session, participants learned about:
- Understanding the menstrual cycle
- Personal hygiene and proper menstrual care
- Debunking myths and misconceptions about menstruation
- Building confidence and self-esteem
- The importance of accessing menstrual hygiene products
To further support the girls, sanitary pads were distributed, ensuring that participants have the resources needed to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence.
At YAWI, we believe that access to menstrual health education and hygiene products is essential for the health, education, and empowerment of every girl. Through partnerships and community outreach, we remain committed to creating safe spaces where girls can learn, thrive, and achieve their full potential.
Together, we can build a future where no girl is held back because of her period.
